Statement. Photography is the lens, filter and frame I apply to the world to discover meaning, beauty, hidden truths. To that end, I make pictures of landscapes, structures and people I care about. I try to carefully frame the subjects and select the aspects that reveal a hidden meaning, value, harmony, or beauty. When it works, I feel that I have communicated a feeling, a value, a secret, a mystery: something hidden to the casual observer.
Bio. I have enjoyed making photographs since I was knee-high to a Nikon. These days, my passion is art-photography, especially black and white, urban/nature, travel and portraiture. I also enjoy event and documentary photography usually in support of the charities I work with, including the American Red Cross in Greater New York and GALLOP. I live and work in Manhattan.
Exhibitions. My work appeared in two group exhibitions at Monkdogz Urban Art Gallery, in New York City. My most recent show can be previewed here. An interview (!) was published here.
Prizes. My Tall ships photograph won first prize in SFTravel.com photography contest. One of my Galapagos pictures won the GRAND prize in the 2007 High Country Passage Top Travel Photos Contest. Other prizes and honors include the NY Nature Conservancy Photo Contest. I am Watching You won Honorable Mention at the International Photography Awards.
